Meet Megan Intfen, Certified Eden Energy Medicine Practitioner
I believe in empowering people to take control of their wellbeing. I hate seeing so many unhappy and unhealthy people walking around living half-assed lives.
There are simple exercises you can do each day to strengthen your immune system, unscramble your brain, protect yourself from toxins, lose weight, feel relaxed, have confidence, and create joy. Energy medicine and health coaching do not require you to give up your cookie habit, run ten miles a day or sit in meditation for hours on end. Feeling better through these modalities is easy, accessible and completely safe.
How did I get here?
My story isn’t extreme or harrowing. In fact, it’s probably pretty familiar to many of you. I was the typical twenty-something in NYC, drinking and drugging my way through life with a lack of ambition, extra weight, low self-confidence, a crappy job and frequent bouts of depression.
My interest in health and wellness was piqued by a random decision to quit using birth control pills after being on them for nearly a decade. I’m pretty sure at the time I had lost my health insurance and simply couldn’t afford them any longer. Little did I know, I was giving my mind and body a huge gift.
A few months after quitting birth control, I had lost about thirty pounds. I was thinking more clearly, making better decisions, noticeably happier and free of my crazy mood swings. I had not changed my diet or begun exercising. The only explanation was that the hormones in my birth control pills had been poisoning me. From this day on, I began studying holistic nutrition and taking an active interest in my wellbeing.
I found a health coach who inspired me to get my life together, from what I ate to how I viewed myself. Shortly after hiring her, I enrolled in the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. My self-study of nutrition and wellness became an obsession and I knew that this was the world for me. At the same time, I had a hard time finding mentors. I was never going to be a hard-bodied yoga devotee. I was a tattooed goth girl who rode motorcycles, played roller derby and still enjoyed a moderate relationship with whiskey. I wanted to inspire all the girls who weren’t of the Lululemon crowd to choose health and happiness without losing what made them unique. My health coaching practice, Saucy Girl Wellness, was born.
After a couple of years in the health coaching field, I was beginning to study other health and healing modalities, including Traditional Chinese Medicine, Reiki and Eden Energy Medicine. I saw my clients do everything right with food and exercise and still hit walls. I knew there were deeper issues that coaching couldn’t reach and I wanted to be the one to help my clients uncover and heal those issues. I got certified in Reiki, and later Eden Energy Medicine, and rebranded myself as an energy practitioner. While coaching remains an integral part of the practice, I now have a giant toolbox of hands-on techniques that allow my clients to overcome blocks and energetic imbalances they may not even know they have.
Seven years, three practices, and half a dozen certifications later, I moved from NYC to the beautiful Pacific Northwest to bring my brand of healing to the awesome people here. I am older, wiser, healthier and unfathomably happier than I have ever been. The most important thing I learned on my journey (so far!) is that we all have the power to change our lives. We all are capable of kicking ass and being ridiculously satisfied when we wake up each morning. We are even able to heal ourselves from disease and chronic illness. My goal is to introduce everyone to that power.
May we all be well. May we all be happy. May we all be empowered.
